Trained at the Guildhall School in London, the young La Rochelle baritone Victor Sicard was particularly noticed during his participation in the sixth edition of William Christie's Jardin des Voix. Having gone on an international tour with Les Arts Florissants, he continued his collaboration with William Christie and worked with the best ensembles of the moment, performing in particular with Le Concert d'Astrée and Emmanuelle Haïm, Le Concert Spirituel and Hervé Niquet, the Ensemble Aedes and Mathieu Romano, Le Poème Harmonique and Vincent Dumestre and the Matheus and Jean-Christophe Spinosi ensemble.
His operatic repertoire includes a wide range of registers and eras. Let us mention, for the Baroque period, Adario in Les Indes Galantes (Rameau) in Washington and New York, Aeneas in Dido and Aeneas with Les Arts Florissants under the direction of William Christie. Other engagements led him to sing the repertoire of operetta and comic opera with notably Dr Falke in Die Fledermaus for the National Opera of Linz (Austria) and Herr Fluth in Die Lustigen Weiber von Windsor by Nicolai for the Guildhall production. For the romantic era, let us quote Gasparo in Rita by Donizetti also for the Guildhall production. He also distinguished himself in the repertoire of the 20th century, with the role of Demetrius in A Midsummer Night's Dream by Britten at the Barbican Grand Theater in London. He brilliantly assumes the virtuosity of 18th century Italian opera, collaborating twice with Il Pomo d'Oro (Partenope and Serse by Händel) and Les Accents by Thibault Noally. With the latter, he notably sang the role of Farnace in Mitridate Eupatore by Alessandro Scarlatti at the Beaune Festival.
Victor Sicard recently recorded a CD dedicated to Ravel's melodies with pianist Anna Cardona, which is scheduled for release in spring 2020.
