Gwendal Giguelay & Louis Rodde

Of Breton origin Gwendal Giguelay hesitated a bit before devoting himself fully to music. He first studied chamber music and piano at the conservatory of Rennes before passing through the benches of a literary preparation, which he finally abandoned to improve at the CNSMD in Paris. He graduated with a master's degree in piano. In his musical career, he enjoys exploring the many facets that the life of a musician allows: concert soloist but also chamber musician. This craze for intimate formations has always animated him. He regularly performs in a duo, trio or quartet, which earned him the Musician between War and Peace prize from the Académie Ravel in 2010.

The profoundly human experience of chamber music is also one of the qualities that Louis Rodde music research. Trained with Philippe Bary and Philippe Muller at the Paris Conservatory, he also studied in the class of Xavier Phillips before perfecting his skills at the Hoschule in Leipzig. With a 1st Prize in the Epernay competition and a 2nd in the Flame competition, he founded the Karénine trio in 2009 with two violinist and pianist friends. The formation obtains an important notoriety to the point of organizing concerts abroad.

The two musicians are joining forces today to present us with a recital around Edvard Grieg's great sonata, and offer us works whose common denominator is an attachment to dreamlike, legends and fairy tales.
In most of the pieces, the marine world or the water motif are present and connected to this poetry, which makes it a very appropriate program for Brittany!
